here's the other side of the coin... JIB could probably accept a few students and not have any extra costs.
If every homeroom and every class is, say, 2 students below max, adding, say, 24 kids won't add any "hard" costs, like hiring an extra teacher or adding a bus run or extra heat.
that is why the 5 or 6 transfers that are the norm now are not the issue and if the numbers of transfer students are low enough it will not be a problem however if 50% of Appy and/or PV students transfer to Norton it would be a BIG problemQuote:

I wasn't going to bring that up but I have heard that as well. If the rumored renovation of JIB is true then it appears to me they are ready to stay open for a long time. I still have my doubts as to whether or not this thing even gets built. The clock is ticking on both sides but more so on the pro 2-1 folk imo. If they don't get something done by the special election, the vote most likely goes back to 4-4 meaning 2-1 can continue. However, if this thing somehow gets tied up in a court (regardless of the judges decision) or is slowed for whatever reason until November of 2011 you can forget 2-1 consolidation. Ted Thompson has about as much chance of winning an election in Big Stone Gap as I do.Quote:

The administration has already decided if we stay out we will run a bus to Appy High and PV high for any one who wants to come. Where do you see that those kids wont get full funding from the state? There is quite a few kids at PV who travel up 23 even from Duffield who attend PV and the kids from Lee co that go to Appy are in Lee or RC school district, they all get full funding, so what is the difference if the come to Norton.
